Mission Statement And Purposes
In accordance with the mission of Davis College, the chairperson and faculty in the Department of Administrative and Allied Health Professionals (AAHP) view our commitment as follows:
- To promote the success of the Department by continually striving to improve and upgrade the curricula. The success of the program depends upon our ability to train and place graduates.
- To provide instruction and develop skills needed in various medical and business facilities.
- To provide an environment that promotes the development of professional behavior, dependability, punctuality, creativity, critical thinking, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills.
- To remain current with changes in the allied health and administrative areas by maintaining communication with the AAHP Advisory Committee, Career Services, and area medical practices and businesses.
- To gain the knowledge and skills needed to pass the Certified Professional Coder exam.
- To gain the knowledge needed to pass the CMA, AAMA certification exam.
- To pursue professional development opportunities in a continual effort to provide current classroom instruction.
- To maintain accreditation of the Medical Assisting Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE).
Mid-Program Assessment
A student enrolled in an Administrative and Allied Health Professionals program will participate in a portfolio review and an assessment test upon completion of the foundation area courses. The Mid-Program Assessment will help to identify whether a student has learned and developed the basic skills needed to successfully complete the advanced courses and ultimately obtain employment.
Completion of the Mid-Program Assessment is required before a student is scheduled into additional or advanced CAS,OAM, or MED courses.

Medical Assisting Program Holds “Ped’s Day”
On October 5 the Medical Assisting program held “Ped’s Day”. The event provided Medical Assisting students with real life experiences that complemented what they have learned about the pediatric patient. Davis students obtained chief complaints and vitals; conducted vision screening tests; measured head and/or chest circumferences; and measured the height and weight of over 20 participating children. The students also made gift bags for each child.

Davis College Celebrates Administrative Professionals Day
On Wednesday, April 21 Davis College celebrated Administrative Professionals Day. To mark the event, The Department of Administrative and Allied Health Professionals team invited Beth Collins, Director of Elizabeth's House, who discussed how women can rethink, renew, and reinvent their lives.

Davis College Honors Allied Health Students At Medical Pinning Ceremony

The accomplishments of students in the Davis College Allied Health department were recognized at the 2010 Davis College Medical Pinning Ceremony. A total of 35 students from the Medical Assisting, Medical Practice Insurance and Coding, and Medical Secretarial programs received a medical pin. A Davis College student must be near completion of their program in order to receive a medical pin. Each student who attended the Ceremony pledged themselves to the ideals and ethical codes of the health care profession.
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredits the Davis College Medical Assisting program on recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAMAE). Davis College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association (NCA).
